Nokia 5800 XpressMusic: A Touch-Screen For The Masses

December 28th, 2008
Nokia's first real touch-screen media smartphone isn't meant to compete with the higher-end offerings by Apple, HTC, LG, and Samsung. Instead, the company is focusing its efforts on the larger, potentially more lucrative emerging markets. Yet the 5800 XpressMusic is no mere budget phone.

LG KF510: Minimalist Handset

November 17th, 2008
At first glance, LG's KF510 isn't a particularly noteworthy device. Its feature-set includes meager tri-band GSM support, a decided lack of 3G, and a smallish battery (800 mAh, good for up to 4 hours of talk time). There is one thing that the KF510 does well though, and that is personal style. The metallic casing, for one, is a mere 10.9 mm thin, with a ("scratch-proof") tempered glass face and what LG has chosen to call a "gapless rail support." Xperia X1: Sony Ericsson's Best Hope

November 13th, 2008

October 28th, 2008
It's no secret that Nokia's N81 slider, while offering gamers and music lovers dedicated buttons for both pleasures, was not a great phone. In fact, it was a lousy phone, prone to firmware bugs, poor imaging, and build quality that did not befit a $500 phone.

Nokia E66: High-Powered Business Slider

September 23rd, 2008
Most business phones, with few exceptions, are relatively boring pieces of work. They make calls, they send emails, they sync with your PC, they take up way too much space in your pockets.

HTC Touch Pro: A Really, Really Heavy Handset

September 5th, 2008
When you cram nearly every feature possible into a mobile phone, there's bound to be some sacrifices. And the sacrifice in buying the HTC Touch Pro is sheer weight. Or more specifically, 165 grams/5.8 ounces. That's 50% heavier than Nokia's original N95 handset, and already inching toward record territory.

Apple iPhone 3G: It's here.

September 4th, 2008
There's not much about Apple's second (or is that third?) generation iPhone that honestly hasn't already been said. While there are a number of minor improvements all across the board, the biggest one is the inclusion of 3G, or support for AT&T's high-speed wireless internet, accessible from anywhere*.
